Optimum Blade Loading in Centrifugal Compressors

Video available on-demand

In this webinar, we demonstrate how compressor designers can exploit their knowledge of aerodynamics to directly address specific flow phenomena in compressors using the inverse design approach. This approach leads to a natural expansion of the explored design space as the designer is pushed to operate outside his comfort zone.

Eventually, this makes it possible to optimise compressor configuration by addressing specific flow phenomena beyond previous experience, which is key to achieving further performance improvements for already high performing designs.

The optimum blade loading for several case studies will be discussed, each related to a specific compressor issue such as secondary flow, corner separation and shocks.

Here are the topics that will be covered in this webinar:

Secondary flow suppression in subsonic impellers,
Shock control in high pressure ratio transonic impellers,
Corner separation elimination in vaned diffusers.
