TURBOdesign Suite 2023.2

In this webinar, we will review major new features and enhancements in the TURBOdesign Suite 2023.2 release. Two notable features of the new release are direct CAE integration with Ansys CFX and Siemens CCM+ and Reactive Response Surface (RRS) optimizer.

The RRS now integrated with TURBOdesign1 is one of the most advanced optimizers available today, which together with the unique features of 3D inverse design-based optimization enables rapid and accurate multi-objective optimization with very few design evaluations.

The CAE Integration function will enable a TURBOdesign1 case to be automatically meshed with the most suitable mesh topology in Ansys CFX or Siemens CCM+ and then run in these CFD codes and the results automatically post processed and returned to TURBOdesign1 and also an HTML report with all relevant information and plots from the CFD codes.

TURBOdesign Pre has a new Sirocco fan (forward curved blower) module and also comprehensive unit support. The centrifugal pump loss models were enhanced by using a new data mining system which used a CFD database to improve the loss models in TURBOdesign Pre.

Furthermore, the automatic export of TURBOdesign1 case from the meanline code TURBOdesign Pre now benefits from an optimized database of blade loading which means that the initial design in TURBOdesign1 is closer to the optimized solution. TURBOdesign Pre will also show meridional area variations for all modules of the meanline design code. The automatic meridional geometry parametric export for all machine types from TURBOdesign Pre has been improved and also now supports line sections.

TURBOdesign1 has additional new features such as the possibility to specify mass flow rate in addition to volume flow rate for compressible cases, improved geometry construction/export for high-pressure axial turbines, meridional geometry scaling function as well as the functionality to compare multiple cases from an optimization Pareto front in TURBOdesign1 project view.

TURBOdesign Volute can now export full manufacturing-ready volute geometry with specified wall thickness as well as support for a comprehensive unit system. TURBOdesign Volute also now supports exit ducts with rectangular cross sections.

All TURBOdesign Suite modules can automatically support the regional settings of Windows 11.
